PURPOSE:To prepare processed AMACHAZURU (Gynostemma pentaphyllum MAKINO) suitable as a drink or food, by steaming chopped leaves and stalks of AMACHAZURU, roasting in heated vessel made of e.g. porcelain, and rolling, drying, and if necessary pulverizing the roast product. CONSTITUTION:Chopped raw leaves and/or stalks of AMACHAZURU are subjected to at least one process selected from (1) steaming in a steaming vessel and (2) roasting in an open vessel made of porcelain or metal and heated at about 150-400 deg.C under thorough agitation. The product is further subjected to (3) the sufficient rolling of the treated leaves and/or stalks and (4) drying at about 40-90 deg.C for 1- several hours. The product is optionally pulverized. 0.5- 10pts.wt. of the processed AMACHAZURU powder is added to 99.5-90pts.wt. of a food material, and used as a health-promoting agent, a natural colorant, etc. |
