PURPOSE:To permit a cooling water temperature control most suitable for the load of the engine by a method wherein a first opening and closing valve, opened or closed in accordance with the temperature of the cooling water, and the second opening and closing valve, opened or closed in accordance with the load of the engine, are provided in the main path of the cooling water, from which a path bypassing a radiator is branched. CONSTITUTION:The main cooling water path 4a, serving as the outlet of the cooling water, is connected to the engine 1 and is branched into a main path 4b to the radiator 3 and the same 4b bypassing the radiator 3. The main path 4a is provided with a low-temperature control thermostat 10 (opened at a temperature higher than 55 deg.C), a vacuum control valve 11 connected to the outlet thereof (opened upon the high load of the engine in which the vacuum introduced in a vacuum chamber is reduced) and a high temperature control thermostat 13 (opened at a temperature higher than 95 deg.C). A decision circuit 14 is connected with a water temperature sensor 23 and a lead switch outputting the opening and closing signal for the vacuum control valve 11 and controls the operation of a cooling fan 16 as well as a delay angle circuit 17 for the prevention of knocking. |
