The invention relates to a device for charging a pressing device, in particular a briquetting press for briquetting in particular combustible materials, having a conveying worm which is arranged upstream of a pressing space and is disposed in a worm housing containing a material-supplying opening. To be able to transport even material which is difficult to convey, for example light, flaky and fibrous material which is inclined to form balls, in the desired quantity into the pressing space of the pressing device, a suction device is provided, with the aid of which the material can be supplied to the conveying worm. The worm housing is designed as a low-pressure space which can be connected via a connecting branch to a vacuum source. Provided in the worm housing is a perforated-plate insert which separates the worm housing into a low-pressure chamber and a worm space. The perforated-plate insert is designed cylindrical in part and surrounds a part of the periphery of the worm and is disposed opposite the material-supplying opening. <IMAGE>
