A vegetable slicer for producing thin slices of potatoes, cucumber, apples or the like has a base, along which the fruit is pushed against a cutting edge located at a higher level by the desired slice thickness. The cutting edge is constructed with an undulating profile. However, since the base also has the same undulating profile as the cutting edge, the crest and trough of the undulation of the base and the cutting edge being aligned with one another in each case, this provides an exact guiding of the fruit being moved, and it is possible to produce thin undulating slices of vegetable of completely uniform thickness with a vegetable grater of this type.
