A closeable narrow box-shaped container for receiving ink cartridges, having individual compartments arranged next to one another and upwardly open, is shown. In this, one or more of the compartments can be closed by means of a lid forming the upper narrow side of the container made of transparent plastic. The lid has a U-shaped profile in cross-section and engages with the legs of the U-shaped profile over the upper edge of the container. The individual ink cartridges can easily be extracted by displacing the lid laterally.
