The invention relates to a compressor for compressing a coolant, air or the like, by means of two rollers, which actuate pistons intermeshing like gears. The free floating pistons do not need any crankshaft bearings, for which reason the compressor has improved energy utilisation and a longer service life. Owing to the large number of pistons and their carousel-like arrangement, the torque of the engine is ideally divided and the compression process is continuous, only one piston ever having to be moved. <IMAGE>
