The invention relates to a closure for the filling neck of the fuel tank of motor vehicles, in which the free end of the filling neck lies inside a frame connected to the vehicle body, on which frame a flap of suitable size is pivoted. The object of the invention is characterised in that on the inside of the flap an annular plug of tapered cross section of inherently flexible, fuel-resistant material is arranged, the outer inclined surface of which bears on the inner edge of the filling neck forming a seal when the flap is in the closed position. <IMAGE>
