PURPOSE:To improve assembly workability of a battery while decrease its weight and improve its life performance, by arranging a flat bag body consisting of an oxidation resistant resin film to the outside of an end plate of a plate group and sealing compressed gas in said bag body then pressurizing said plate group. CONSTITUTION:A plate group 4 consisting of a positive plate 1, negative plate 2 and separator plate 3 is welded and assembled to a positive electrode strap pole 5 and negative electrode strap pole 6. An introduction part 8 introducing compressed gas of air or the like is provided to a flat bag body 7 consisting of an oxidation resistant resin film, and a partition 10 contacted to the group 4, being of no necessity for providing plural belt-shaped protrusions, is formed to a plane. Then after the group 4 is inserted into a battery jar 9, compressed gas is introduced into the body 7 so as to press the group 4 at pressure 5-20kg/dm<2> and the part 8 is sealed and cut off. In this way, a surplus space between the plate group and a partition of the battery jar is filled by the body 7 sealed with compressed gas to eliminate storage of a large amount of electrolyte, and weight of a battery can be decreased. |
