PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed with simple circuit constitution, by using effectively the information of all syndromes up to the number of test symbols and detecting errors simultaneously with generation of syndromes. CONSTITUTION:A read Solomon coding/decoding system includes a syndrome arithmetic circuit 1, a storage circuit 2 of syndrome S0, syndrome comparator 3, an error position arithmetic means 4, a syndrome all-zero deciding circuit 5, a correction execution control logical circuit 6 and an error correction executing circuit 7. The circuit 1 delivers M units of syndromes S0-SM-1 to the received codes. The circuit 6 decides to execute or not a correction in accordance with the prescribed algorism and in response to the outputs of the comparator 3, the means 4 and the circuit 5. |
