PURPOSE:To suppress the heat of a step motor by providing two gate circuits which are turned ON by a signal based on a step signal and switching and inserting a resistor into an exciting circuit, thereby reducing the power consumption of the circuit. CONSTITUTION:A drive circuit of a step motor has a distributor 1 which outputs an excitation signal supplied with a step pulse signal, and first to fourth switching circuits 2-5 for driving the exciting coil operated in switching by the excitation signal. Two gates 9, 10 which are turned ON by the signal based on the step pulse signal are provided, a resistor is inserted in a current path which includes excitation coils CA, CB at the rotating time, gate circuits 9, 10 are set OFF in holding state so that two resistors 6, 6a are inserted into the current path which includes the coils CA, CB. |
