The continuous-wave roller or water-wave roller has an essentially cylindrical roller body (1) which supports retaining bodies (2) which are arranged at its two ends coaxially with respect to the roller body axis, which retaining bodies have a diameter which is larger than the roller body (1) and hold the adjacent rollers together by engaging into the retaining bodies of one or more adjacent rollers. Each retaining body (2) consists of an essentially cylindrical disc (3) which, on its circumference, has a large number of identical retaining elements (4) which are essentially parallel to the axis.
