PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of operation, by setting a specific region of a transmitting original to which alphabetic words, etc. of a low recognizing factor as a non-rejecting region and avoiding a rejecting process to deliver a signal informing non-execution of the rejecting process in case the recognition is impossible for the non-rejecting region. CONSTITUTION:A format control part 15 designates previously a rejecting region and a non-rejecting region to a character recognizing part 14 if the recognition is impossible for characters. The part 15 delivers a rejecting region designating signal Sa and a non-rejecting region designating signal Sn to the part 14 according to the region to which a picture data Dp belongs. The part 14 performs recognition on the basis of the data Dp of the region designated by the signal Sa and then delivers a code signal Dc to a data processor Dp' via an output circuit 16 for the data Dp to which the recognition is possible. For the data Dp to which the recognition is impossible, the data Dp' is delivered to a rejection processing part 17 to leave the recognizing work to an operator. When the data Dp to which the recognition is impossible is corresponding to the information of the region designated by the signal Sn, a code signal Dc' showing said correspondence is delivered to a processor. |
