The invention relates to an electro-hydraulic control device for the automatic switching of a multi-gear, mechanical planetary transmission of a motor vehicle with a device connected to a load control element of the motor vehicle for delivering a load-related pressure to a main pressure control slide valve post-connected to a pressure medium feed pump for the generation of a load and gear-related main pressure and to a manual slide valve connected to a manual selector lever for the gear-related feeding of the main pressure, delivered by the main pressure control slide valve, to the control elements assigned to individual transmission gears, and with solenoid switch valves. In order to create as simple and space-saving a control device as possible, which has as few solenoid switch valves as possible, according to the invention solenoid switch valves are to be assigned only to those shift elements assigned to forwards gears of the transmission system, which valves in a first shift position connect a pressure admission line leading to the pressure admission chamber of the shift element with a pressure medium line coming from the manual slide valve and in a second shift position with a discharge line having atmospheric pressure. <IMAGE>
