PURPOSE:To obtain a fixed image always having high quality in both side fixing and pressure fixing, too, by setting the first contact pressure of a fixing roll at the first fixing step lower than that at the second fixing step when pressure fixing is executed in both side fixing or multiple fixing mode. CONSTITUTION:When a button for both side copying is pushed in a both side copying machine or the like, first, a controller C drives motors M1, M2 positively to positively rotate gears 8, 8'. Bolts 7, 7' are moved upward by a prescribed amt. to weaken the pressing forces of springs 9, 9'. When a recording sheet having a toner image is fixed on one side, and image formation for both side copying is started, the controller C reverses the motors M1, M2, the gears 8, 8', the bolts 7, 7', and moves them down by the prescribed amt., and strengthens the pressing forces of the springs 9, 9'. |
