1. A spinal fusion device for implanting or placing between adjacent vertebrae comprising:
a hollow body having an upper section with a top surface for contacting one vertebra and a lower section having a bottom surface for contacting an adjacent vertebra, said top surface and said bottom surface having a means for engaging the vertebra, each section having depending sidewalls, a top sidewall being slidably mounted over a bottom sidewall, each sidewall having at least one slot; a hollow body section, said body section having a first end comprising a multitude of angled surfaces, a grooved end and a flat end, wherein the angled surfaces culminate at a flat end or planar end plate at a first end, and at the opposing end, the angled surfaces culminate for receiving a sloped edge of the top and bottom surfaces when the device is in a unexpanded form and a second end comprising an opening for disposing of a distractor; and, a distractor having a body with a bore with at least one protruding member for engaging at least one said slot on each said sidewall, and a jack screw threaded into the bore whereby the distractor moves relative to the rotation of the jack screw. |
