PURPOSE:To improve resolution and transmittance, by a method wherein both end-faces of single mode optical fibers are abraded in parallel with each other and half-mirrors are provided to the both end-faces. CONSTITUTION:Single mode optical fibers 12 and 13 are fitted within a through- hole 11 provided within a retainer 10, and fixed to the retainer 10 by means of filling metal 14 consisting of suitable soft metal. Both end-faces 12A and 12B of the optical fiber 12, and both end-faces 13A and 13B of the optical fiber 13 are abraded, respectively, so as to be perpendicular to the axis. Thus abradod end-faces 12A, 12B, 13A and 13B are provided with half-mirrors consisting of dielectric interference film mirrors or metallic mirrors by the evaporation methed, etc. |
