PURPOSE:To provide such an aerial connection box for optical cables which enables the easy execution of branching and connecting anytime when the need for the same arises and enables the desired changing over of the cores between the optical fiber cores of the existing aerial optical cable and branch optical cable. CONSTITUTION:An aerial connection box body 6 is fixed to a cable suspension wire 2, an existing aerial optical cable 3 and a branch cable 4 by means of a cable fixture 7, and the cable jackets of both cables 3, 4 are cut off to expose respective optical fiber cores 12 and 13. Only the optical fiber cores to be branched to the cable 4 are selected from the cores 12 of the cable 3 and the cut optical fiber cores are separated to two parts, 14, 15. The uncut fiber cores 16 pass as they are in the body 6. Connectors 17, 18 and 19 are fixed respectively to the cores 14, 15 and 13. Optical fiber cores 9 and connector holders 11 for patching mounted beforehand with connectors 10 at both ends are mounted to the frame 8 of the body 6, and the aerial connection box is completed. |
