PURPOSE:To improve incident efficiency and optical decorating effect by providing light control parts on the incident end face and exit end face of an optical fiber and forming the end faces to smooth surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The end face 11 of an optical fiber 10 is improved in smoothness by a light control part 12 formed by vapor deposition. Therefore, the Fresnel reflection loss and cracking by the fine ruggedness of the end face 11, the light diffusion loss by impurities and the absorption loss by the absorption characteristics of the material of the fiber 10 are reduced. With the constitution wherein the lens-like light control part 12 is formed on the incident end face, the angle of light reception is expanded and the area of light and the improved luminance of the exit end face are resulted from the increased quantity of received light. With the constitution wherein the part 12 is formed on the exit end face, the exit light is diffused and an optical decorating effect is improved. Thus, the incident efficiency and the optical decorating efficiency are improved. |
