PURPOSE:To effectively mix air with fuel, by forming the top surface part of a piston to a narrow shape and rapidly extruding to cause a strong turbulent flow with compressed air in a combustion chamber in the central part of the piston when the piston approaches the top dead center. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber 2 is narrowly shaped in the top surface part of a piston 1 to form a squish lip 3. An overhung part 7 to a vertical cylindrical surface containing the lip 3 from the peripheral side of the chamber 2 toward the inside is provided in the vicinity of crossing points a-d between peripheral lines of escape parts 4, 5 of inlet and exhaust valves and the lip 3, and each surface is continuously connected by gently curved surfaces. In this way, the generation of a crack is suppressed, and the four parts 7 provided to the inside of the periphery of the chamber 2 further improves mixing of air with fuel to improve efficiency of an engine. |
