The weaving loom comprises a reed beam at one end carrying a pneumatic (feed) weft insertion unit and a drum-type weft preparation unit. The (non-rotating)drum is contained in a fixed housing with an end wall facing the yarn guide upstream of the unit. This wall is provided with a (slotted) opening through which the yarn passes whilst the peripheral housing wall is, at one side, provided with a (tangential) fluff extract connection, the other side having an air inlet port whose cross-sectional flow area exceeds that of the connection. A similar arrangement for a dual weft prepn. unit is specified and illustrated. Used as weft prepn. unit for weaving loom with pneumatic weft insertion. The arrangement effectively extracts fluff given off by the ballooning yarn as this this is wound on to and drawn off the drum thus preventing its settling and being entrained into the insertion unit.
