PURPOSE:To remove ribbon dusts generated in a printer and eliminate the malacious effect of the dusts on printing, by a method wherein a vacuum for sucking ribbon dusts and a rotary brush driven by a motor are provided on a type drum, and the motor is periodically started by a timer. CONSTITUTION:An ink ribbon 3 is continuously traveled on a type drum 4 by a drum motor 8 to print on a printing paper 1. Air is constantly sucked into the vacuum 7a, and the ribbon dusts are removed by a filter and a blower 7b. The timer 15 periodically feeds a starting signal to a clutch-controlling circuit 14, whereby a rotary brush plate 12 is pressed against the type drum by an electromagnet 13, and a clutch 10 is engaged to connect a rotary brush shaft 9 and the motor 11 to each other, so that the rotary brush 6 is brought into contact with the drum 4 to remove the ribbon dusts. The ribbon dusts dropped down are trapped by a ribbon dust trap 5, while those moved up are sucked by the vacuum 7a. |
