PURPOSE:To reduce the deformation in the axial direction, by jointing a plurality of metal chips at the spot welded discontinuous point on the narrow width end face in the longitudinal direction while varying the inter-joint pitch with specific relation in the direction to be fixed to the mask frame. CONSTITUTION:The outer casing 10 of a color picture tube is comprised of a panel 11 having inner face formed with a phosphor face and a neck 13 containing a funnel 12 and an electron gun 15. The shadow mask 16 is held on the mask frame 17 to construct a shadow mask structure 18. The structure 18 is shown by the structure 80 where the pitches Pn, Pn+1, Pn+2 of the spot welded discontinuous joint 86 between a high thermal expansion metal chip 81 and a low thermal expansion metal chip 82 are set to vary continuously with single relation to be determined by the formula in the direction to be fuxed such that they are rougher at the portion 80a to be fixed to the frame than the portion 80b where the stopper hole section 85 is provided. In such a structure 80, the axial deformation can be reduced to weaken the spring force when stopped at the panel pin. |
