PURPOSE:To enlarge a contrast ratio and to obtain a distinct picture, by shifting a passing axis of a polarizing plate placed on upper and lower glass, from the rubbing direction of this glass, within the maximum range of 15 deg., respectively. CONSTITUTION:A direction 15 of a transmission axis of an upper polarizing plate 7 is set to an angle theta1+phi1 against a center axis direction 12, when a rubbing direction 13 of upper plate glass 1 makes an angle theta1 against the center axis direction 12. Also, a direction 16 of a transmission axis of a lower polarizing plate 8 is set to an angle theta2+phi2 against the center axis 12, when a rubbing direction 14 of lower plate glass 2 makes an angle theta2 in the direction opposite to the angle theta1 against the center axis 12. That is to say, the transmission axes of the polarizing plates 7, 8 are shifted by phi1 and phi2, respectively, from each rubbing direction 13, 14 of the upper and lower glass 1, 2. In this case, the angles phi1, phi2 are set to a range of >=15 deg., which does not include 0 deg., respectively. |
