Appts. for sprinkling a liq. onto the packing of a cylindrical packed column for use in heat exchange and mass transfer between a gas and a liq. consists of feed pipes and distributer pipes arranged in the column cross-section as follows. In the three largest possible imaginary diamond-shaped zones which can be inscribed in the circle of the column, and which therefore constitute the inscribed regular hexagon, there is one feed pipe parallel to one pair of sides of the diamond leading into a set of parallel distributer pipes parallel to the other two sides. The longitudinal axes of all the distributer pipes may be above or below, or at the same level as, the longitudinal axes of the feed pipes. In a variant, in each imaginary diamond-shaped zone there may be two or more parallel feed pipes. Arrangement provides a uniform distribution of the sprinkled liq. across the packing of the column. |
