Pyridazin-3-one compounds and herbicides containing them

The new compounds correspond to the formula II in which the substituents X and R5 have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1. The pyridazin-3-ones of the formula II are notable for their biological activity and are employed as the active component of herbicides. Their preparation is simple and is carried out in a one-pot process which starts from easily accessible compounds and in which the end products are obtained in a good yield. The process involves reacting hydrazines of the formula NH2NHR5 or salts thereof with compounds of the formula OHC-C(CH3)=CX-CCl3, dissolved in water or a mixture of water and at least one water-miscible solvent, in the pH range from 0-6. <IMAGE>
