The 'code-free' conveyor control apparatus comprises a set of discs rotating at different, but related speeds and generating a cycle greater than the cycle of any one disc and related to a conveyor cycle. A small number of signal generating holes in the discs gives rise, by permutation and/or repetition, to a much larger number of optical signals in the course of a cycle. The signals are counted and decoded and a selected subset is applied sequentially to control indicators at on-and off-loading stations, whereby a multiplicity of consignments may be on-loaded at different stations without any mutual interference, at times, expressed in terms of conveyor travel, such that every consignment reaches its appropriate off-loading station when its associated indicator is activated.
|
