<p>The ignition system transforms low voltage electric energy to high voltage energy to ignite a fuel mixture, and comprises a first generator of high voltage impulses (5) and a second, continuous, generator (3), supplied from a low voltage DC source (1). The two generators have one output electrode common and the voltages from the non-common electrodes have the same polarity so that these two voltages add at the rotor arm of a distributor (8). A capacitor (28) is charged by a chopper circuit (3) to a high voltage less than the spark break over voltage. a second convertor (5) switched by the breaker points (9) provides a high voltage to initiate the spark, which is then sustained by the capacitor energy.</p> |
