PURPOSE:A specific microorganism in Candida is made to act on a specific n- alkene under aerobic conditions to produce an alkenedioic acid in high yield. CONSTITUTION:The microorganism to act on is a yeast in Candida capable of oxidizing an alkene into an alkenedioic acid e.g., Candida tropicalis 1098 and MD-105. In the meantime, the n-alkene has 10 or more carbon atoms and a double in the molecule, represented by the formulaI(m and n are 0 or positive integer where m+n>=6). The microorganism is made to act on a n-alkene, or previously cultured in a medium containing a carbon source that is assimilated by the yeast, and the resultant cell bodies are aerobically cultured in a medium containing the n-alkene. |
