Cyanohydrin carboxylates of the formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R represents hydrogen, unsubstituted or halogen-, CN-, alkoxy- or alkoxycarbonyl-substituted alkyl or aryl, R<1> represents hydrogen, unsubstituted or halogen-, CN-, alkoxy- or alkoxycarbonyl-substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl, and aryl or heteroaryl, and R<1> and R<2> together represent unsubstituted or halogen-, CN- or alkyl-substituted alkylene, R<2> represents substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cyaloalkyl, aryl or heteroaryl, are prepared by reacting acyl cyanides or O-acyltartrononitriles (dimeric acyl cyanides) or mixtures of the two compounds with aldehydes or ketones in the presence of anhydrous bases, if appropriate in the presence of diluents. |
