In a watertight seam between two plastic-coated fabric parts (1 and 2) joined together by sewing and welding by means of a plasticisable connecting strip (10), according to the invention, in order to make an absolutely watertight seam (3), the centrally bent-round connecting strip (10) is inserted with its mutually opposite edge regions (11 and 12) between the fabric edges (8 and 9) in the same direction as these. The plastic coatings (4 and 5) of the fabric parts (1 and 2) and a plastic coating (18) of the connecting strip (10) are welded to one another, whilst at the same time a non-welded middle region (21) of the connecting strip (10) is preserved. Subsequently, the fabric edges (8 and 9) are sewn to one another in a region (22). A process and device for making this seam (3) are likewise specified. <IMAGE>
