<p>An ion selective electrode device, in particular a pH-sensitive electrode device, employing an intercalation electrode (3) as contact material between an ion selective element (2) and an electrical connection (9). An intercalation electrode comprising an equilibrium mixture of two phases, at least one of the phases working as an intercalation electrode, is disclosed.
