The device for determining the quantity of hot water and the heat consumption arising therefrom in hot water heaters is of simple design and operates without wear or maintenance. The device has valves with electrical sensors for detecting the valve opening width. The quantity of hot water discharged by the valve opening width and the temperature difference between the flow temperature and the return temperature of the hot water are fed to an evaluating circuit in order to form the product from the quantity of hot water and the temperature difference. <IMAGE>
