It is the object of the invention to retain simple axial assembly in a universal joint, the transmissible torque and the axial forces which can be accepted being increased. To achieve this object, each fork arm (8) has a cutout (11) in which is arranged a corresponding fitting piece (14), and the joint forks (9) and the fitting piece (14) are clamped together by a clamping device. <IMAGE>
