The invention relates to a pasteurization plant for liquids which are initially heated, filled into vessels in a Fuller and then cooled again. It comprises a heat exchanger and a cooling tunnel which in turn has at least two zones for irrigation of the vessels with water, a water-permeable transport belt (1) and irrigation reservoirs (2, 3) present in the zones, as well as collection reservoirs (4, 5) below the transport belt (1) and delivery pumps (6, 7) and, according to the invention, a passage pipeline system (8, 9) located in the collection reservoirs (4, 5) by means of which the heat withdrawn from the vessels during the cooling process is fed to the liquid which is still cold and flows through the pipeline system (8, 9). The heat which cannot be withdrawn from the irrigation water merely by this means is carried away to the outside, according to the invention, by a freshwater stream guided through all irrigation reservoirs (2, 3) and collection reservoirs (4, 5) and finally through the overflow (11) from the collection reservoir (5) through which the water flows last. Introduction of the freshwater stream in an irrigation reservoir part which is separated, according to a further development of the invention, from the irrigation reservoir (2) through which the water flows first by a partition (13) increases the efficiency. The invention permits considerable savings of heat and fresh water coupled with a low technical outlay. <IMAGE>
