PURPOSE:To execute a dynamic driving of a high duty by providing a polarizing plate having a polarization direction of an angle of 45 deg. against an orientation direction of a liquid crystal layer, on both sides of a double layer type liquid crystal cell in which the orientation directions are orthogonal. CONSTITUTION:In a double layer type liquid crystal cell 11 having the first liquid crystal layer 12 and the second liquid crystal layer 13 in which the orientation directions are orthogonal to each other, each orientation direction A, B is a direction as indicated with an arrow. Also, on both sides (before and behind) of this liquid crystal cell 11, a transparent electrode and a glass substrate which are not shown in the figure are placed, and moreover, on its outside, polarizing plates 14, 15 are provided. The polarization direction of these polarizing plates 14, 15 makes an angle of 45 deg. against the orientation direction of said liquid crystal layers 12, 13 of the polarizing plate side. Also, the polarizing plate 15 of an emitted light side is formed so as to become a state of a parallel nicol or an orthogonal nicol to the polarizing plate 14 of an incident light side, and when the polarizing plates 14, 15 are parallel nicol, they become a positive display, and in case of an orthogonal nicol, they become a negative display. |
