The invention relates to the determination of the characteristic values of synthetic fibres and silks in order to predetermine and control the fibrous material properties by finding the zeroth and/or first and/or second derivative of the stress/strain characteristic and comparing it with the properties of the material established during the course of production. Methods of correction for the subsequent process are specified in cases of deviation from the set values. The method can be applied in the textile fibre and silk industry, in particular, in textured silk processing.
