A control of this type switches the entire traffic light installation to ''red'' upon the approach and passage of a vehicle emitting a special signal (police, fire brigade, ambulance or similar). Once the vehicle emitting the special signal moves away from the traffic light installation, the control switches the latter back to normal operation after a settable time.
