Coke-oven doors for horizontal-chamber coking ovens consist of an elastic sealing plate with mounts for inserting and lifting out the coke-oven doors, have locking bolts arranged and fastened at the edges which make it possible to suspend the door as a whole in front of the coke oven and are pressed against the chamber frame, by means of a pressure element arranged at the edge and designed as a hollow body, so that the coke oven is sealed off relative to the atmosphere. At the same time, the elastic sealing plate is limited by an all-round U-section cage, in which the hollow body is arranged so as to act indirectly on the chamber frame. The hollow body is connected at particular points to the bottom of the U-section cage or is surrounded by an outer casing matched to the shape of the U-section cage. Groovings leading to a labyrinth gasket can be formed on the side of the hollow body which remains flexible.
