In a blueprinting machine, in which the original sheet and the copy sheet traverse an exposure station while situated one upon another and are reseparated from one another in a following separating station in order to feed the copy sheet to the developing station, there is arranged in the advance path of the original sheet a sensor which senses the front edge of the original sheet and, with the aid of a control circuit and taking account of the rate of advance of the blueprint material does not switch on the separating box, which belongs to the separating station and detaches the original sheet from the copy sheet, until the original sheet enters the separating station with its front edge. This leads to reduction in the air turnover, and thus both in the incidence of noise and in the risk of developer gas penetrating into the space surrounding the blueprinting machine.
