<p>PURPOSE:To automatically lock the shift lever in the parking position by a structure wherein a locking pin, which actuates in association with the operation of an engine starting key, is engaged in the pin hole of a sliding plate, which slides in association with the operation of the shift lever. CONSTITUTION:When the shift lever in the automatic transmission is tilted from the drive position to the parking position, an inner wire 41 is pushed leftward and consequently the slide plate 5 is pivoted to the position indicated with chain line so as to the hole 17 of the slide plate 5 is shifted just beneath the locking pin 7. Next, when a starter key is operated to the engine stop position, a cam 28 and a lever 23 (not shown in fig.) energizingly engaged with the cam 28 are shifted to the position indicated with broken line and a rod 8 is pushed leftward. Consequently, the locking pin 7 is inserted in the inside of the pin hole 17 of the sliding plate 5, resulting in preventing the sliding plate 5 from rotating. In such a manner as mentioned above, the shift lever remotely coupled with the sliding plate 5 is locked in the parking position.</p> |
