A cup-like measuring head (1) has a bottom (2) and a jacket-like wall (3), as well as a rim (4) by which the measuring head is stuck onto the head of the fetus. The measuring chamber formed in this way is filled with a conducting, electrolyte-containing liquid which serves for transmission of the fetal cardiac action potentials to an annular or sheet-like electrode (7). <IMAGE>
