PURPOSE:To obtain a recorder with fovorable operability, by providing a protective means for a recording means in a recording unit, and a protection- controlling means for controlling the protective means according to the attachment or detachment of the recording unit from the main body of the recorder. CONSTITUTION:When an image-recording unit 40 is attached to a cassette holder 5 and is placed on a recording paper, a thermal head 46 protruded through an opening part 41a is pressed against the paper through a film 45. With the thermal head 46 energized under this condition, an ink on the film opposed to the part of the head generating heat based on the energization is melted, and the melted ink is transferred onto the recording paper. Thus, a protective function for the recording head in the image-recording unit is automatically set and released according to the attachment and detachment of the recording unit. Accordingly, the recording head is prevented from being damaged, and favorable operability is achieved. |
