In the case of a housing of a gas shut-off fitting, which housing is constructed as an electrical insulating piece and is provided with a ring, consisting of insulating material, on the side of the cavity for holding the shut-off means, to which ring a connecting nozzle is connected, it is intended to achieve the object of creating a housing of a gas shut-off fitting, which housing is constructed as an electrical insulating piece and whose parts, to the extent that they are not standard parts, can easily be produced as simple turned parts, it being possible to use as the insulating material a plastic which is resistant to high temperatures, is not easily combustible, is strong and cannot flow. The invention achieves this object in that said flange, or the housing opening facing said flange, is provided with a ring of insulating material which is of U-shaped cross-section and rests on the inside and outside of the flange or of the housing opening, in that a further ring consisting of insulating material is pushed over a part of the connecting nozzle, over the flange and over the ring which is of U-shaped cross-section, which further ring has the form of a reducing collar and is provided with an inner step and an outer step in order to bridge a sudden change in the cross-section, and in that this ring of insulating material has a cap nut of a screw union engaging over it, which cap nut is screwed to an external thread on the housing and, with its internal flange, engages behind the outer step of the ring which consists of insulating material and has the form of a reducing collar.
