A desired value signal generator serves for the electrical adjustment of an element, in particular a choker valve, which influences the fuel/air mixture of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, in accordance with the position of the accelerator. For this purpose, the desired value signal generator is connected via an electronic control circuit to an actuator element which is coupled to the choker valve. In order to achieve a fine resolution of the swivel movement of the accelerator, the desired value signal generator includes a gear which is coupled to the accelerator. A last power-output-side gearwheel of the gear is arranged with respect to a proximity switch in such a way that the latter is influenced by the teeth of the gearwheel and outputs a number of pulses which corresponds to the swivel movement of the accelerator. The pulses are counted in a pulse-counter in the electronic control circuit and evaluated in order to form an output signal to the actuator element.
