PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer useful in industries as a heat-resistant, flame-resistant or incombustible material in high polymer yields, by effecting the ring opening polymerization of phosphorus nitride dichloride by using an organosulfur compound as a polymerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A linear polydichlorophosphazene polymer is prepared by effecting the ring opening polymerization of phosphorus nitride dichloride by using a thiocarbamate compound of formulaI(wherein R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl group or may be combined together to form a heterocyclic ring containing the nitrogen atom) or of formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl or a phenyl, M is a monovalent or bivalent metal and n is 1 or 2) e.g., tetrapropylthiuram disulfide. |
