<p>PURPOSE:To perform adequate narrow-band transmission by easy and speedy arithmetic processing, by performing the vector arithmetic of signals of scanning lines in two orthogonal directions between corresponding picture elements with time. CONSTITUTION:The vertical and horizontal signals are inputted from terminals V and H to a redundancy removing and encoding part COD. The output of the redundancy removing and encoding part COD is inputted through a comparator CMP to a movement extent calculation part DC to the vertical and horizontal extents of movement. The size, direction, and origin of the composite vector based upon those extents of movement are stored in a frame memory FM. Then, the value of a difference signal before weighting is extracted to find a difference varying with time, which is quantized and outputted. Further, when the extents of movement are not obtained correctly, the processing is interrupted to perform estimation from the extents of movement when processing using adjacent blocks is completed or to vary quantization characteristics by the capacity of a buffer memory.</p> |
