PURPOSE:To make a battery usable for a long period of service life while enjoying corrosion resistance, by applying an acid-proof synthetic resin coating to a pole column excluding the tip part, a lug part of a pole plate group and a weld part of both these parts, and then installing these elements inside a vacuum cell, while impregnating and drying them in a way of decompression. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy resin coating 4 is applied to a lug part 1 of a pole plate, a part 2 excluding the tip part of a pole column, and a weld part of both these parts, and after they are installed inside a vacuum cell 5, decompression of up to an atmospheric pressure of 10<-1>-10<-3> takes place whereby these elements are impregnated and dried for 1 to 3min long. The 6 shown in illustration is of a pressure reducing port. Doing like this vacuum impregnation is very essential and with this process achieved, the acid-proof resin coating is well infiltrated into the weld part between the pole column and the pole plate lug or a cracked part, etc., and since all the corners of this defective part can be covered with the said resin coating, there is no corrosion by a mist of sulfuric acid. In this connection, as the acid-proof resin coating material, those of epoxy resin coating, polyamid coating, fluorocarbon resin coating, etc., are well accepted in use. |
