The method entails the shampooed hair being wound onto curlers, a reducing agent being applied and left to act, rinsing and oxidative setting, wherein the areas of the hair of the head where no or only slight permanent reshaping is required are treated, before or immediately after the application of the reducing agent, with an aqueous composition which diminishes or inhibits the reducing action of the reducing agent and is suitable for reducing the waving.
