Process for the preparation of carboxylic acids and N-tert-alkylamines

Carboxylic acids and N-t-alkylamines can be prepared simultaneously by alkaline pressure hydrolysis of N-t-alkylcarboxamides. For this purpose, a 5- to 50% by weight aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution is employed in an amount from 1.0 to 1.3 mol per mole of the amide. The process is carried out at 200 to 350 DEG C.
