An absorbent device suitable for use as a sanitary napkin which comprises a fluid pervious cover enclosing an elongate fluid absorbent core and a fluid impervious barrier sheet arranged between the cover and the core so that the barrier sheet covers the side of the core facing away from the body of the user and at least portions of the two longitudinal side edges of the core characterised in that the fluid impervious sheet is heat laminated over the whole of one surface thereof to a non-woven fabric fluid pervious cover is disclosed. |
